CHICAGO – Red Stars defender, Arin Gilliland, will join the Newcastle Jets of Australia’s W-League on loan during the National Women’s Soccer League. Gilliland will rejoin Chicago during preseason ahead of the 2018 season.

For the second year in a row, Gilliland will travel across the world to compete in the 10th season of the Westfield W-League, Australia’s top-flight women’s soccer league.

Gilliland appeared for the first time on loan during the 2016-17 season for the Jets with Chicago teammate, Jen Hoy. She made nine starts for the club, totaling 799 minutes.

Netting the second-most goals on the team with four, Gilliland helped the Jets to a 4-5-3 record (15 points), and finished the season just out of playoff contention in fifth place.

Gilliland appeared in 23 games for the Red Stars and completed her third year in Chicago.
