Chicago Red Stars to Play 2016 Season at Toyota Park

Red Stars look to enhance fan and player experience with move to world class natural grass pitch and stadium

Chicago, Ill. – The Chicago Red Stars announced today that the team will return to Toyota Park, playing all home games in the venue for the 2016 National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL) season. Toyota Park was home to the Red Stars during the 2009 and 2010 Women’s Professional Soccer (WPS) campaigns. The Red Stars will move from Benedictine University, where they have played since 2011.

“In 2016, it’s time to return to our original home – Toyota Park. Our fans and sponsors will now enjoy an exciting game day environment in a major league stadium, while our players and the rest of the teams throughout the NWSL will enjoy the benefits of competing on a world class, natural grass pitch,” said Arnim Whisler, Owner of the Chicago Red Stars.  “It was hard to leave Toyota Park in 2010, but we are thankful for the warm reception and incredible support of Benedictine University and the Village of Lisle over the last three years.  It gave us an intimate and affordable setting as our club and the league have grown.”

Toyota Park is a 20,000-seat stadium located in Bridgeview, Illinois. It was built in 2006, as a soccer-specific venue with a natural grass pitch. Toyota Park has been the home of Major League Soccer’s Chicago Fire for the past 10 seasons. Fans will enjoy the opportunity to see virtually every member of the 2015 World Cup Champion United States Women’s National Team (USWNT) at Toyota Park with their respective NWSL club during the 2016 campaign.

“We want to thank the Village of Bridgeview, Mayor Landek, Debra Augle and their staff for working hard to bring us back,” Whisler added. “We are looking forward to a tremendous season.”

Fans that have already purchased their 2016 season tickets will be contacted in the New Year by their account representatives to select their new seats. Season Tickets and Flex Packs are now on sale to the public. Single game tickets will go on sale in early 2016 when the Red Stars schedule is released.

The 2015 NWSL semi-finalist Chicago Red Stars continue to provide the best value major league sports tickets in Chicagoland with over 25% of the available seats being priced at $25 or less. Furthermore, in a gesture to our loyal fans, the Red Stars will continue to honor previously announced season ticket pricing through Sunday, January 10, 2016.

For fans that may not be able to attend all ten home games due to the venue change, the Red Stars are offering ‘Flex Packs’ in ten ticket increments that will allow groups and families to use their tickets at a time that is most convenient for them throughout the 2016 season. For complete seating and pricing information, click here or call the Red Stars ticket office at 773-697-8699.

In addition, fans that are accustomed to free parking at Benedictine University will not be disappointed as the Red Stars, working cooperatively with the Village of Bridgeview, will offer free parking to all regular season home games in 2016. The Red Stars will be working with Toyota Park to identify potential public transportation options for Red Stars game days. Located at 7000 South Harlem Avenue in Bridgeview, Illinois, Toyota Park is conveniently located near the I-294 and I-55 making it an easy drive from every corner of the Chicago area.
