Chicago Adds Four as National Team Replacements

CHICAGO – The Chicago Red Stars have added defender Zoey Goralski and midfielders Jo Boyles and Chandra Eigenberger to the roster as National Team Replacements. Goalkeeper Ryann Torrero has also been called in as a National Team Replacement, pending league approval.

Boyles, Goralski and Torrero were named as National Team Replacements prior to the July 28th game against Sky Blue FC that was rescheduled for tomorrow, September 4.

This marks the first call up for Eigenberger. Most recently, Eigenberger played with the Red Stars Reserves in the Women’s Premier Soccer League (WPSL), who won the 2018 WPSL Central Regional Championship.

Former North Carolina alum, Boyles was drafted by Chicago during the Dispersal Draft via Boston Breakers. Drafted with the 32nd overall pick in the NWSL Draft by the Breakers, Boyles tallied 14 goals and 17 assists in her collegiate career.

Goralski, a star at UCLA, was drafted by Chicago in the third round of the 2018 NWSL College Draft. In her senior campaign, Goralski helped her team to the National Championship, assisting on the game-winning goal in an NCAA quarterfinal win over Princeton. She was named to the College Cup All-Tournament Team.

Goalkeeper Torrero will be once again called on as a replacement for Alyssa Naeher. This marks the third call-up for Torrero. After a small stint at University of Wyoming, Torrero finished her collegiate career at Campbell University in North Carolina. Her senior season she maintained 0.80 goals against average, while also saving 84% of shots.

The four players are replacing Red Stars that are currently on international duty. Defenders Casey Short and Julie Ertz, midfielder Morgan Brian and goalkeeper Alyssa Naeher are currently in California representing the U.S., while Christina Murillo is with the Mexican National Team, and Summer Green is with the U.S. U-23 Team competing in the Nordic Cup.

The Red Stars take on Sky Blue FC Tuesday, September 4, at 6:30 p.m. CT. The match will be broadcast live on the NWSL app and NWSLsoccer.com. All tickets that were purchased for July 28 will be honored at the gates. Tickets are available here.
