All You Need To Know: CHI v WAS

MATCH INFO: Chicago Red Stars face first-place Washington Spirit on Saturday, September 24 at 7 PM. The game will be broadcasted live here or get your tickets here.

SERIES HISTORY: The Red Stars hold a 2-6-1 all-time series record against the Washington Spirit, who are the current leaders in the National Women’s Soccer League standings. Forward Christen Press is the only Red Stars player on the current roster to have scored against the Spirit, coming in a 1-1 draw in 2015. In the nine matches between the two teams, all but one game has been decided by one goal. The Washington Spirit have yet to take the pitch at Toyota Park in 2016, while Chicago was the last remaining team to have gone undefeated at home, ending the status after a 2-3 loss on Sept. 7 against FC Kansas City.

SCOUTING WASHINGTON SPIRIT: Currently in first place with 39 points, the Washington Spirit have yet to seal the NWSL Shield after falling 2-0 against  Seattle Reign on Wednesday. The Spirit has conceeded the least amount of goals (18), thanks in part to Canadian goalkeeper Stephanie Labbe, who has five clean sheets this season, and U.S. WNT defender and Spirit captain Ali Krieger controlling the backline. Although remaining scoreless last week, the Spirit have four players with four or more goals, as midfielder Estefania Banini leads the team with five. Reigning Golden Boot winner Crystal Dunn has only one goal in 2016, but leads the Spirit in assists (5) and still has managed to earn 29 shots with 12 of them on goal.

RED STARS MILESTONES: After being drafted by Chicago in 2015, Danielle Colaprico has played 3,469 minutes for the Red Stars and could become the fastest in team history to reach 3,500 minutes on Saturday against Washington. It has only taken Colaprico two seasons to reach the feat, after starting her career playing the full 90 minutes in her first match for the Red Stars on April 18, 2015 in a 3-2 victory against Seattle Reign.
