5 Reasons to Attend: Chicago vs. New Jersey

CHICAGO – The Chicago Red Stars will host its final home match of the 2018 season on Tuesday, September 4th against Sky Blue FC. The match will kick off at 6:30 p.m. CT and will be broadcast live on the NWSL app and Tickets are available here.

Here are 5 reasons to attend:

Kerr vs. Sky Blue FC
The number one Aussie will face her former team for just the second time in the 2018 season and the first time at home. Still out with the Australian National Team for international duty, Sam Kerr was unable to take the field during the 1-1 draw in April.

Kerr found herself back in New Jersey for the first time in early July since being traded to Chicago in January. The forward continued where she left off, completing a hat trick at Yurcak Field after earning a single-season high 17 goals in 2017 for Sky Blue.

Every Point Matters
After the huge three points earned in Orlando this past weekend, the Red Stars have two matches to come up with enough points to seal the coveted fourth playoff spot.

Chicago propelled to fourth place after the victory against Orlando, jumping ahead of Utah Royals FC and Houston Dash, each by two points. Chicago will face Utah on the road for the final match of the regular season following the match against Sky Blue.

Last Game at Toyota Park
The Red Stars are returning home after a three-game road trip and will host its final home match of the 2018 season at Toyota Park on Tuesday, September 4th. Previously scheduled for July 28th, the match was postponed due to travel cancelations.

Totaling over 45,000 fans this season at home and on the road, Chicago looks to improve its 4-4-3 home record for the last time this season.

Boyd Back in Goal
Due to players being called up for international duty, back-up goalkeeper Emily Boyd will find her way into her second appearance this season on Tuesday.

Previously, with the help of Boyd in goal, the Red Stars broke a seven-game winless streak with a 2-0 victory against Washington Spirit, marking Boyd’s first shutout in her first professional appearance.

Honoring Dames’ 50th Win
Red Stars head coach Rory Dames earned his 50th NWSL win this year in a 2-0 victory against the Washington Spirit at home. The win also marked a four-game undefeated streak for Chicago.

Dames became the fourth NWSL coach to reach the milestone, joining the likes of former FC Kansas City’s Vlatko Andonovski, Utah Royals FC’s Laura Harvey (including wins with Seattle Reign FC) and Portland Thorns FC’s Mark Parsons (including wins with Washington Spirit). Dames also became the second coach to reach the feat with the same team, following Andonovski with Kansas City.

After the match the Red Stars will honor Rory Dames for the 50th win in a post-game ceremony.
