Chicago, IL – U.S. interim head coach Jill Ellis has named 22 players to the U.S. Women’s National Team roster that will travel to Winnipeg, Canada, for the May 8 match at Investors Group Field. The group features Red Stars rookie defender Julie Johnston, as well as incoming forward Christen Press, who recently helped Tyresö of Sweden advance to the UEFA Women’s Champions League Final with a 3-0 victory this past weekend against Birmingham of England in the second leg of the semifinal series.

She was the U.S. Soccer Young Female Athlete of the Year in 2012 after captaining the U.S. Under-20 National Team to a World Cup championship. She made her senior team debut on February 9, 2013, in a friendly against Scotland.

Press, a 25 year-old, Palos Verde, California native started the year leading the national team with 3 goals in 3 matches. She has appeared over 20 times with the senior team, dating back to 2012. She is set to join the Red Stars after competing in the UEFA Women’s Champions League Final on May 22 in Portugal.
