CHICAGO – The Reserves Team maintained their spot at the top of the Women’s Premier Soccer League Midwest Conference with victories over Chicago City SC and Milwaukee Torrent over the weekend.
The Reserves started the week facing Chicago City SC in the local derby. Defender Emily Hess found forward Haley Johnson for the opening goal in the 29th minute. The goal was Johnson’s team-leading fourth of the season. The Reserves held the 1-0 lead into the break, then struck again early in the second half to pull away from City. Hess got the assist again after linking up with Lexi Pelafas for the goal in the 49th minute.
The team returned home to face a tough Milwaukee Torrent, the only team this season to takes points away from the Reserves. This time there would be no such result for the visitors as the Reserves were ready to take three points. Chicago forward Patricia George scored in the 25th minute to give her team 1-0 lead at halftime, followed by goals from Hannah Bebar and Ainsley Ahmadian in the second half to seal a 3-0 win.
Entering the final week of the WPSL Regular Season with a record of 6-0-1, the Reserves will play their final two games at home against Chicago City SC on Wednesday and Indy Saints FC on Sunday. Wednesday’s kickoff is scheduled for 7pm at Evergreen Bank Group Field, while Sunday’s regular season finale will take place at Oak Brook Polo Fields with kickoff scheduled for 3pm.
